Gamma Acosta has won many fans through the paintings he's created on a large wall at Third Avenue and Lashley Street in Longmont.
That wall is where he started, but he's moved up to other projects and other walls, the latest being those in the breezeway on the east side of the 300 block of Main Street.
Acosta was commissioned by the Longmont Council for the Arts and the Longmont Downtown Development Authority to paint the mural as part of an Outdoor Gallery in the breezeway. Acosta worked on the piece — titled "Longmont's Story," it's a visual tour through the city's evolution — for four months. It was a big project compared to what he's used to.
