Q & A with John Young and HK Wallace, Owners

Q: Why you decided to open in Downtown Longmont.

A: Longmont opened its doors to us. We found homes here and great site for our distillery. We recognized Longmont as a family community that placed a high value on local craft products. Like the Longmont community itself, “handcrafted” means something different at Longtucky. Owner-built equipment, locally sourced ingredients, and transparent processing blends with our values of community and family for one-of-a-kind spirits and cocktails. 

Q: How can your customers make Longtucky Spirits their own favorite place, and how can they take ownership of supporting you during this time? 

A: Although our community tasting room is closed right now, we offer online orders for all our bottles of rum, bourbon whiskey, gin, and more, plus our new canned cocktails (Steamboat Spritz, Caribbean Queen, Longtucky Julep, and Gina Tonic)! You can place an order for pickup or delivery. It's easy! Visit our website to order. Our canned mixed drinks pair nicely with many of Downtown restaurants offering tasty takeout and delivery! Create your own picnic! 

As soon as the pandemic happened, we began creating cleaning sanitizer for our first responders and local residents. Please stop by with a container Tues-Sat 2-7pm. Families can get 500ml per week and one gallon for medical workers for free! This is not "hand sanitizer" but 80% alcohol solution that is great for spray cleaning.

We are currently holding an Indiegogo $10,000 COVID fundraiser to help us manage through restrictions of this pandemic. The community has been very supportive by shopping local and purchasing our bottles of spirits. But, bottle sales cannot replace the vibrant atmosphere of our tasting room and the delicious cocktails that generate most of our revenue. Proceeds from this fundraiser will allow us to pay employees, keep the landlord happy, maintain our professional relationships and purchase the materials necessary to release our Bourbon and Rye this summer. With a little help we can survive this pandemic and be prepared for the future. Thanks for your support!

During the Stay at Home order, we'll be featuring a different Downtown Longmont business each day.
