Details

Wrapping sticks is about remembering the West with the Ute Indian culture and how they wove and used color. We will wrap sticks of different colors of yarn and place them on a wall for exhibit. The attendees can collect sticks to wrap, and some sticks will be provided along with the colored yarn in the workshop. When wrapping there is a rhythm that one gets into with your hands and eyes that is meditative. The contrast of soft yarn on the bark of the stick is an appealing texture that delights the eye. Please bring sticks from your natural habitat and any yarn you would like to use. Supplies will be available but as a community project, it would be great to represent items found throughout the community!
These wrapped items will be included in Nancy Eastman's, the Firehouse Winter Artist in Residence, February Main Gallery Exhibit. Thank you for supporting art and creativity in the community!
