Let's Celebrate Together!

Join us as we celebrate Juneteenth National Independence Day in Longmont! We will commemorate the end of slavery in the United States, celebrate our youth while creating brave beginnings for the future.
Longmont Celebration of Juneteenth event is a celebration of culture, freedom and brave beginnings. This is an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate Juneteenth. Please come join in the celebration and enjoy food, live entertainment, special guests and your community.

Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on June 19th which commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. This holiday originated in Galveston, Texas; where on this date, 1865, following the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation. In addition, this holiday is observed for celebrating African-American culture, and celebrating the progress continuing to be made.
The goal of the Annual Juneteenth Celebration in Longmont is to celebrate our diverse community, and come together to share, educate, and appreciate one another. We must go back to our roots to move forward. We should reach back and gather the very best of what our past has to teach us.

Longmont Celebrates Juneteenth is a healthy, family-oriented event through its alcohol-free, tobacco-free, and marijuana-free standard. We are also committed to becoming a zero waste event. The event includes musical and fashion entertainment, vendor and information booths, activities for kids, drum line performances from local high schools, and tons of great food! We would love for you to join us for this celebration, and plan to celebrate regardless of weather conditions, please make sure you are prepared!
