From classic cinema to contemporary Japanese artists, this season’s films celebrate the art and culture of Japan – part of our Thursday Nights @ the Museum series. The original, roaring granddaddy of all monster movies is also a remarkably humane and melancholy drama, made in Japan at a time when the country was reeling from nuclear attacks. “Godzilla” has become a beloved international icon of destruction, spawning almost thirty sequels.
