Dry Land Distillers is excited to release a 100% Single Barrel/Single Varietal Byrd Wheat Whiskey for the 2023 holiday season. This whiskey honors the work of Dr. Byrd Curtis, the founder of the Colorado State University Wheat Breeding program and longtime Colorado resident. Not only did his work at CSU help Colorado farmers, his work as the director of the Global Wheat Program at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT)* led to the development of non-GMO grain varieties that will help humanity for decades to come.
The whiskey is delightfully rich, gently sweet, silky smooth, and built on a foundation of caramel, spice, and grain. It’s soft up front with a luscious finish that reaches a crescendo of flavor and warmth. Bottled at 90 proof, the Byrd Whiskey is a quintessential ‘sipping by the fire’ spirit that can be enjoyed solo or paired with holiday meals and desserts.
