In 2018, City of Longmont voters approved funding for the rehabilitation and improvements to City buildings including the Safety & Justice Center (3rd Avenue and Kimbark). Structural improvements were identified and rehabilitation began in 2022. Repairs to the structure are being made to slow further deterioration while extending the life expectancy of the building by fifty years. Proposed enhancements will remove failing precast concrete (including the rotunda shape seen above). The building footprint will also be expanded to allow for current and future space needs while providing additional safety measures.
