Class Description: Learn navigation techniques to find hidden treasures! Kids will learn to locate areas on a map using UTM coordinates, and how to enter those coordinates into a GPS to follow a digital map. We’ll use these skills to discover hidden treasures -- or “caches” -- in downtown Longmont. Leave with the skills to guide your family on the hunt for more treasures in your neighborhood. Includes “Geocaching Handbook” and a snack. Once you’ve completed this intro class, you’ll be ready for more of our themed Geocaching adventures – ask us for details!
What is Geocaching? Geocaching is a real world outdoor treasure hunt game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, map, or other navigational techniques to seek prize containers, called “geocaches,” anywhere in the world.
